Anisa

I am a Senior Supervising Social Worker at Active Care Solutions.

My faith...

I am a practicing Muslim. I will fast during the holy month of Ramadan and will give charity where I can by supporting charitable organisations

Early years…

I was born in Oldham to a family of 4 siblings. We moved to Bradford when I was 9 years of age. I was a young carer and helped my mum looked after my siblings who had disabilities. I grew up with a natural instinct to care for vulnerable children, which became part of my everyday life.

Adult life…

Whilst studying in secondary school I always knew, I wanted to become a social worker. My mother was also a social worker and I have seen her support and help people in the community. I was fascinated with her desire to put others first and go out of her way to make positive changes in people’s lives. My mum has always said to me if there is an opportunity to help someone we have a responsibility to help them. The greatest reward is making positives changes to others.  I developed a passion to work with the most vulnerable in society and make a difference in someone’s life. I wanted a career which would be rewarding and give me job satisfaction. I wanted to work in the community and be part of the positive change.

Work life...

I studied social work at the University of Bradford and obtained a BA (HONS) in August 2008. I went on to become a child protection social worker and have worked in various authorities in the West Yorkshire region.  I gained extensive experience in the child protection sector from working with vulnerable children and families as well as managing complex court work.

Why ACS?...

Why not?! ACS in a faith based organisation and they have a passion to meet the cultural and religious needs of a child coming into care. They are driven by compassion and the team work together to ensure every child meets their full potential with their foster carers. ACS work hard to ensure that children are best matched with foster carers taking into account their religion and culture.

ACS team is like a family. When I walked through the front door I could feel the warmth from the managers to the staff there. Everyone is so welcoming and they will go out of their way to help others.

Faces of Fostering…

We highlight the people that make Active Care Solutions so different and so special.  We are proud to be a fostering agency that welcomes people of all faith (including those that are not religious) where your religious needs are respected and understood.  We are an ethnically diverse organisation where people work together with one common goal.  To make a difference for young people in foster care.
