This July ACS held their Children’s Achievement Day and what a fun packed day it is was. The sun was shining as staff, foster carers, children and young people from the Midlands and the North West got together to celebrate. With an awards ceremony complete with a Hollywood style red carpet and entertainment, it certainly was a day to remember.
Fostering Services Manager, Andrew Nugent started the day off with part one of the awards ceremony. Registered Manager, Mohammed Bashir was master of ceremonies for part two which took place after a fantastic lunch. Every child and young person was given a trophy and certificate, then they had their photo taken on the red carpet. Children were recognised for their achievements ranging from 100% attendance at school, finishing their GCSEs and starting college, helping out at home and having good behaviour.
It really was an event for our children and young people. There was a role play performance by three siblings which was outstanding. They weren’t nervous about performing in front of such a large group of people at all.
A street dance troop treated the audience to a Bollywood style dance and then as an activity children and young people were invited to participate to learn and perform the dance.
There was also an impromptu performance afterwards from five young people in foster care which was a traditional dance from Afghanistan.
It was an inspiration to meet and talk to foster carers about their fostering journey with ACS and to see the genuine friendships between other foster carers and children. Talking to the children about their achievements was also very moving.
The atmosphere and energy throughout the day was electric, it was exhausting watching the children dancing and having so much fun. Luckily there was the biggest cake ever to keep everyone’s energy levels topped up.
Well done to all the children and young people ACS are so proud of all your achievements!
