Fostering Jewish children in care

This is why it can be extremely difficult for Jewish children and teenagers to navigate their journey in foster care without the traditions and customs they are used to. That’s why we work hard to provide bespoke Jewish foster care services so children from the Jewish community can live with families who are able to support their religious needs as well as provide love, security and safety.
At ACS, we need more people to open up their Jewish homes and care for foster children who urgently need a place to live. From understanding the devastating impact of antisemitism through to following a Kosher diet and observing the Sabbath, you’d be able to help them stay connected to Judaism while giving them the tools and knowledge they need to thrive.

Fostering with a specialist Jewish foster care agency
Going into care is a frightening time for children. Whether it’s for long-term care or short emergency fostering, this confusion and unrest can be doubled if Jewish children are placed with families that don’t fully understand the complexities of their faith. That’s why it’s important for us to carefully match foster children with loving Jewish homes, so they can continue living with a sense of normalcy. We want the Jewish children in our care to be able to celebrate special religious milestones such as their Bat mitzvah or Bar mitzvah, or special holidays such as Hannukah, or simply be with a family that understands what it’s like to be Jewish.
As a multi-faith foster care agency with a diverse team of professionals from different faiths and cultures, we have extensive knowledge and first-hand experience of what it takes to raise and foster a Jewish child. Requirements to foster a Jewish child
You don’t need to be married to foster, or even living with a partner, we welcome people regardless of their relationship status or sexuality. All we ask is:
- You have a spare bedroom?
- You are over 21 years old?
- You enjoy the company of young people?
- You have a sense of humour and the ability to see the positive wherever possible?
